I read the review and several comment about how cheap this is. It is made of plastic. I don't have any problems with the plastic. It does what it is supposed to do. It does use 2 D batteries which is a bummer because I have to go out and get those. Not too many things use D anymore. It is a little bulky but I can't say that's a downfall when they are all made this way. It would be cool if you could assemble it when needed. It works. I can move liquid from one spot to the other.
Last month I had a sump pump installed, and the backup solutions are expensive. So in the meantime I got this battery operated pump. It only transfers ~1.5 gallons per minute, so it takes longer to empty the sump basin than the regular wall pump does, but since it accepts D batteries, I would continue to work during a power outage. That would work to keep my basement from flooding for several hours. It stores easily next to the sump pit, in my basement.
We love this transfer pump when it comes to pouring gas from a 5 gallon can into anything that runs on gas. Instead of struggling to pick-up and pour gas from a heavy can without spilling it all over the place, we use our handy Battery-Operated Liquid Transfer Pump. No mess, no fuss, it is absolutely wonderful. This is our second one and it will be used to drain our 100 gallon fish tank periodically which is way better than dipping or siphoning the water out.
I do not care that thing is not made more durable, it works! I removed 22 gallons of old fuel from my boat with this and it was perfect. The pump is at the very end of the tube, which is great. The best part of the pump was the pump end is less than 1.5" diameter!!!!! this fit into my fuel tank through the fuel sending unit hole. I have an 8" deep tank and got everything out except for about 1/4" residual. I can live with that. make sure that unit is used standing strait up. If the unit is tilted too much fluid will run out of the vent holes and travel down the outside of the pump arm. The small hose it comes with works fine, just make sure it is fitted properly first then tighten it again.
Never used one of these before and pleasantly surprised on how well it did. It’s great when you need to put gasoline in your car when you get fuel perks for free gas when you can get 30 gallons. No more mess of wasting gas. Should have bought this sooner.
