Bought this my my little gamer / Zelda fan. He loves it! He practices a little bit each day and can play a few zelda songs. There are youtube videos out there that assist. There is a small instruction/music booklet that comes with. I wish the instruction side had actual note labels instead of just pictures of the notes with small pictures of the Ocarina with holes covered. The songs given in the booklet are mainly young children's songs like Mary had a little lamb. Would be nice if there were actual instructions for Zelda songs. But again, that's where youtube comes in. All in all it is very nice and not bad for the price.
If you are looking to buy an ocarina for a Legend of Zelda lover, look no further. Speaking as a LoZ lover/fanatic, buying the (pretend I typed the actual name) ocarina is a fantastic decision. Considering I bought this as a gift for myself, however, it was a terrible decision pre-holiday. I re-wrapped it twice (then gave up) because it magically ends up journeying with me out to the porch. This ocarina is a treat, for sure. It's beautifully crafted and for a novelty item, well worth purchasing. Just another heads up, though--said ocarina can get very loud. Living in a subdivision, I have renamed the Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time soundtrack to "Canine Concerto in bark major," as I can get several streets of dogs going off like we're doing a rendition of the William Tell Overature. Cracks me up every time. Just buy it--whether the ocarina is for you or a loved one, it's a great purchase to round out your collection and immerse yourself in the memories.
For the price, this is a fantastic piece of craftsmanship. I'm a big fan of the Ocarina of Time, and am thrilled with this purchase. I am not musically inclined, so I can't comment thoroughly on the quality of sound coming from this instrument. I will say that I tried blowing on it lightly to keep the noise down (I didn't want to bother those around me) and had some issues with consistency. After I blew on it a little harder the sound was crisp and clean, at least to my ears. For the price you will be hard pressed to find something this pretty
Beautiful ocarina. I do believe this is a bootleg though, the box has Zelda but wouldn't you think it should come with a Zelda music note sheet? It was a good price and sounds nice. The ocarina was packaged in a well stuffed box with styrofoam plates. I can keep my ocarina safely stored and don't have to buy a case for it. Maybe later at another time. I think this is a beautiful ocarina. It looks exactly like the photo for the product and not a lie like a lot of stuff on Amazon. Maybe, research a bit more if you want the ethentic ocarina that looks familiar like this one. But if you want to go cheap, get this one. I played Zelda's lullaby and it sounded nice. Practise makes perfect!
I got this for Christmas today and right out of the package it was a huge success. The sound is amazing and rich and it sounds really beautiful. It is indeed made of ceramic and comes in a few different colors. The design is very neat and it is very well done. The whole thing is fairly lightweight and comes with a neck string for easy carrying in the go, and the string is very sturdy if tied well and carefully so dropping it should not be a worry. It is somewhat loud and it does not seem to have any other volume except for the one it plays at, so you'll have to be careful when playing around others. As an instument it is fairly easy to learn. This specific model has one octave and the major C scale it is tuned to is easy to learn, but the chromatids will require some practice. As a musician myself (Tuba), I think this is a great instument with great sound and great quality and at this price is a real bargain.
